How Much Does an Accountant for Amazon Sellers Cost?

What determines the price of an accountant for Amazon sellers: countries, invoices, structure, OSS and extras. Questions to ask.

There is no single price: it depends on how many countries you file in, how many transactions you have, what structure you use and what the fee includes. Be wary of a fixed price that asks you nothing.

What raises or lowers the price

  • Countries. Each country with VAT registration adds returns (Pan-EU FBA).
  • Transaction volume and number of sales channels.
  • Structure. Sole trader, company, OÜ or LLC.
  • OSS. The One-Stop Shop usually adds a quarterly return (EU ecommerce VAT).
  • Extras. Registrations, regularisations, tax notices, bookkeeping.

What to ask before hiring

  1. What does the fee include and what is billed separately?
  2. What does each new country registration cost?
  3. How are tax notices or regularisations charged?
  4. Is there a minimum term?

Data Biz indicative prices

For a reference point, these are the figures we use in our VAT registration cost calculator: registration in Estonia costs €100; registration in Germany, France, Italy or Spain costs €280 per country; and VAT returns start from €60 per month per country. These are indicative prices, excluding any local taxes or fees, and the final quote depends on your volume, your structure and whether there are filings to regularise.

Example: Estonia, Germany and France with FBA Pan-EU

A seller with stock in three countries would pay €100 + €280 + €280 = €660 in one-off registrations, plus returns from 3 × €60 = €180 per month. Over the first year that is around €2,800 for VAT alone, before accounting and the company tax. Use the calculator to try your own mix of countries.

Monthly fee, per return or tailor-made

Many firms charge a fixed monthly fee per country or by invoice volume; others bill each return separately. Neither is better in the abstract: what matters is that the contract states what is included (OSS, reconciliation, notices) and what is billed on top.

FAQ

Is cheap expensive in the end? It can be, if it does not cover OSS, local registrations or reconciliation; compare what is included, not only price.
