Estonian Company Accounting for Ecommerce Sellers (OÜ)

If you run an Estonian company (OÜ) to sell on Amazon or your own store, accounting is an obligation of Estonia itself, wherever you live. This is what an OÜ usually has to do for an ecommerce business.

What an OÜ has to do every year

  • Keep accounting records of all transactions: sales, Amazon fees, expenses and settlements.
  • File the annual report with the Estonian Business Register within the legal deadline after the financial year ends.
  • If registered for VAT, file periodic VAT returns (monthly in Estonia).
  • If you have employees or pay the board member, also report payroll taxes.

Corporate tax: why Estonia is different

Profit you reinvest in the company is not taxed; tax is paid when it is distributed. That is why many sellers choose an OÜ. But paying tax in Estonia does not exempt you from checking your position in Spain: if you manage the company from here, Spain may treat it as tax resident. We explain it in Estonian company and Spanish tax residence.

VAT and sales across Europe

With FBA stock or sales to consumers in other countries, you will need to register VAT outside Estonia or use the OSS scheme. See which countries need VAT with Pan-EU and the VAT numbers of all 27 countries.

What it costs and who does it

The price depends on transaction volume and the VAT countries involved. At Data Biz we handle the accounting of your OÜ and your LLC with direct support, and give you a fixed quote before you start. Deadlines and fees depend on each case: tell us your situation. This is not legal or personalised tax advice.
